One rainy afternoon, an anxious father and mother walked into our clinic, holding the hand of their four-year-old daughter. The worry on their faces was unmistakable — a mixture of fear, exhaustion, and desperate hope. The child looked visibly weak and tired, her eyes reflecting the strain of repeated illness. She had been suffering from recurrent episodes of severe stomach pain.
The child had already suffered three episodes of acute pancreatitis which required hospitalization. Medical investigations revealed very high levels of serum amylase and lipase, confirming a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. Several doctors had recommended immediate hospital admission. The parents were overwhelmed and frightened — unsure of what to do next. They were desperately looking for an alternative solution.
